Signature of selection based genomic prediction in adapted x non-adapted maize breeding populations

Description of the topic

Identify high value QTL from ex-PVP donors with production markers available for forward breeding applications.  Develop and test SOS based prediction model methodology in temperate x tropical breeding populations using ex-PVP lines.  Deliver SOS based prediction methods for integration with larger GMP GS breeding applications.

 

Activities

  1. Identify signature of selection haplotypes within ex-PVP maize inbred lines.
  2. Characterize and fine-map major loci of potential agronomic importance.
  3. Develop and validate genomic prediction models that estimate genomic breeding values from signature of selection data on ex-PVP lines. 
  4. Develop and validate genomic prediction models that combine signature of selection data on ex-PVP lines with GEBV information of elite adapted tropical maize training sets.

Develop advanced skills in relevant software packages, programming languages, and data management to enable robust hypothesis testing and analysis pipeline development.
